I call this one "Sisters". I love the crochet dress on the older girl. The littlest one has a heart shaped locket on. This photo was quite damaged....sometimes I wonder if that is another reason that they have been discarded. I found out that yes there was a Reed Studio in Marshfield, Wisconsin..but that was it. A year? Perhaps 1940?
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
I love the old cardboard frame and the embelishment around the picture....details that are left out these days.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are happy children. The arrangement of the girls at different heights is pleasing to the eye and doesn't look contrived.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable, wouldn't it be great to see how they grew up?

You seem to be right about the date--I found a crochet dress pattern circa 1940 that was very similar. Great job fixing up the damaged photo! ~Abra
ReplyDeleteGosh they are adorable girls! Their parents must have been so proud of them!
ReplyDeleteYou did an excellent job on the photo repair. I can't see any damage at all.
ReplyDeletechairs seem to be popular in old photos
ReplyDeleteI know for sure that The Reed Studio was open from 1910 to 1960. I don't know how much longer after the 60's that it was open. Alonzo Reed I believe first started it and then Orval Reed took over it with him.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 photos by the same company that I found when my mother passed away. I don't know who they are of or even when they were taken. I wish I had a way of finding out more about them.
ReplyDeleteMy great-grandfather was the owner of Reed Studio. My grandma was the one that would hand color the photographs.
ReplyDeleteHi JamiKloth, Do you know what years the studio was open? :)
Delete1910 was when Reed Studio opened and did their first photo of George Oppman and a Frank S. I know for sure that they were open until at least 1960 since I have a brief copy of a newspaper clipping celebrating 50 years. The owner, Alonzo "Lonnie" Reed, was my 2nd-Great-Grandfather
DeleteI believe 1919, but I can ask my grandma this week for sure :)
ReplyDeleteJamiKloth, Alonzo was my 2nd Great-grandfather. I believe we are related :)
DeleteThe studio was closed at the end of 1981.
