John Henry Tierney Sr was born Sept 15 1863 in Minnesota. He died Aug 30 1945 in North Dakota. His parents were Jeremiah and Anna Tierney
His wife was Mary Aug 15 1865- Dec 10 1936 in North Dakota.
They had a number of children info taken from Irene Ann Tiernery Lotz obit.

Franklin Herefords  Slater MO

That must be little Jamie in the truck!  I bet his last name is Franklin. 

That looks to me like a 1947 Two Ton Truck…but I am no expert on vehicles.  It looks like a well used truck so this photo was most likely taken in the 1950’s sometime.  He has been hunting.

James L(eroy?) Franklin (February 23, 1920 - September 27, 2001) and Mildred A. Franklin (September 3, 1914 - June 26, 2008) owned the Franklin Polled Hereford Farm outside of Slater, Missourri.

Their son, also "Jim," apparently still lives there.

The truck is indeed a a 1947-1955 era Chevrolet "Grain Truck". The back actually hinged like a dump truck.

The United States was involved from 1917 to 1918.  The actual dates of the entire war was 1914 to 1918.

A little boy in a big cap, and his father/grandfather in the background.   That piece of wood would have been used as a chopping block, possibly for making kindling or to sever the heads of chickens.

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

The photographer is N. A. Preston Eau Claire, Wis.

A frail looking child and his/her father.  I will guess it is a boy?  What do you think?   Just like in the Walt Disney Movies..I wonder where is the Mama?  You can see a posing stand behind the chair.

The gentleman has rough looking but gentle hands..he works out of doors for sure.  The top button of his jacket is buttoned  that makes me think this photo could have ben taken in the early 1880’s.  His trousers appear to have somewhat of a striped pattern that was popular in the 1880’s.  Wisconsin became a State in 1848..so that is of no help.

These are snapshots from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

These gals are picking potatoes.  They carry empty sacks on their backs.  There will be one or two bushels per sack.  You can see the sacks in the distance. ( They look like bushel sacks.)

These men are most likely headed into the field to pick up full sacks.

My uncles picked potatoes in the 1940’s.  They were paid 25 cents a bushel. In Minnesota the potato harvest will start right after Labor Day.

We have the same family..again. It looks to be early spring sometime around 1910. Gather part of the family and have them sit on a bunch of rocks. 

The same Grandma on the left.  Perhaps with two of her daughters this time…or one daughter and one daughter in law. 

Now it is the boys turn..they are not doing real well controlling that little girl.

This is another tintype that was found in the Nettie Parks Album.

A man in a straw hat with a baby.  This is a very dark tintype, sometimes a very dark chocolate colored varnish was used to preserve the tintype. The entire card is 2 3/4 by 3 1/2 inches.  The tintype measures 1 1/2 by 2 1/4 inch.

I also have two odd things to show you today.

Don’t know where this was taken but it was close by.

This I was an interesting coupon that someone thought was worth saving.
