And her husband

Frithjof Hugo Carlson Wathne (March 16, 1912 in Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway - February 9, 2002 in ?)

There were/are a number of Wathne's living in the Milo, Mille Lacs, Minnesota area.

Mathilda Olson Stephenson Feb 20 1890 Died Jan 31 1933 both are buried at ST Johns Cemetery Norman County MN. They had at least three daughters Verla born in 1922, Marilyn born in 1925 and Anna born in 1927

Number 2262

This is a Cabinet Card from the Now and Then antique shop in Alexandria Minnesota.

Star Studio in Gibson City, Illinois was the photographer.

They are holding right hands.  Her gown is trimmed in a ruffle trim around the cuffs of the sleeve, neck. bodice and shoulders of the gown.

I am not sure what years that wolf fur was popular with photographers.  I will guess this photo was taken in the late 1880’s to early 1890’s.

From the Award of Merit we can date this photo after 1887.

Charlie just has one button that is buttoned on his suit jacket, his boutineer is quite large.  Lena wears flowers in her bridal veil and also at her waist.  She clutched a prayer book in her right hand.

Charles (b. Jun 1866 in Wisconsin) married to a Mary Magdalena in the 1900 US census. The 1920 US census shows him as divorced. He worked at a brass mill and in 1910 as a wagon maker.

Mrs. Lena (b. abt 1864) was making dresses in 1924. They had at least 6 children.

Her veil must have some special lace on it as it is spread out acrosss her Mothers skirt. (Her mother or another close female relative.) I think this photo was taken in the late 1890’s.
