Dear Agnes, Did you know that I was way over here? It is really an interesting and beautiful place to spend two years, better come see us?  Have been wanting to write a long letter al about it- but the semi –tropical atmosphere does the damage to one’s spirits that household duties seem about all I can manage.  Dad has an operation for appendicitis + gall bladder removed but reports are he is getting along fine.  Hope you are all well and very happy.  Lovingly Ann

The date at the very top of the card is 12 -6-30.

A Merry Christmas from Rev. + Mrs. Masted ~ Yvonne + Carol
I found several Reverends…Fred, Lars and Harold…
The dress that the Mrs is wearing is possibly from the 1940’s??
Thanks for stopping by.
Update from Iggy:
Agnes Margrete "Aggie" Lien Masted (b. Sep. 28, 1913 d. Jan. 18, 2008 :  Was the wife of Rev. Walter Masted and mother of Yvonne, Carol, and Wanda.

The Rev. Masted died in 1945 - within a few years after this Christmas Card was sent out. Your photo-dating (the dress) is spot on.  He died following a surgery.

In 1937 Walter and Agnes were married in Duluth.   He served Lutheran congregations in Duluth, and the Detroit Lakes communities of Richwood and Bakke, he was serving in Greenbush when he died.

This photo went Full Circle 113 on April 13, 2015.

Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas

We have a bonus with this one.
Jimmie Mildred and Jamie Grand Forks ND
Franklin Herefords  Slater MO
That must be little Jamie in the truck!  I bet his last name is Franklin.
That looks to me like a 1947 Two Ton Truck…but I am no expert on vehicles.  It looks like a well used truck so this photo was most likely taken in the 1950’s sometime.  He has been hunting.
Thanks for stopping by.

Update from Iggy:
James L(eroy?) Franklin (February 23, 1920 - September 27, 2001) and Mildred A. Franklin (September 3, 1914 - June 26, 2008) owned the Franklin Polled Hereford Farm outside of Slater, Missourri.

Their son, also "Jim," apparently still lives there.

The truck is indeed a a 1947-1955 era Chevrolet "Grain Truck". The back actually hinged like a dump truck.

Dear Sadie, Here’s our youngest doing a stunt. Wishn you all might see her.  She is beginning to walk and talk.
We are comfortably situated in a house by ourselves. Mr. ? enjoys the fine H.S. Building and his equipment.  We find people cordial + have made several friends whom we value .  How are you? Still in Casselton?  Lovingly, Stella Graham
The postcard was sent to Miss Sarah Best Fargo, N.D.
Thanks for stopping by.  Do come againSmile

Update from Iggy:
Eugene Clayton (23 Mar 1875 in Forest, Rice, Minnesota - Mar. 20, 1936 in Manhattan, Riley, Kansas) and Stella H Graham (15 Dec 1872 in Illinois - 2 Jul 1960 in California, appears in the 1940 US census as widowed, living in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California) had this baby, Helen Elizabeth Graham (30 Aug 1906 - 1 Jul 1989) in Minnesota but then moved to Kansas, Ohio, and then back to Kansas and then Stella and Helen moved to Los Angeles.

Helen married a Mr. Macy.

Update from grandmavickiann:
This could be Sarah Best
She was born in 1881 in Minnesota, the daughter of William and Abbie Best. At the time of the 1910 Census, her father had died, and she was living with her mother and siblings Ina, Imir and Mary, all girls, as well as her maternal grandmother, Sarah Thomas, for whom it appears that she was named. According to the NDSU biography, there was also a brother, Will.

The NDSU Library has several feet of items donated by Sarah Best and Ina Best. They must not have married. Her father was once mayor of Casselton and Chief of Police of Fargo. He died in 1898.

Dec. 12  Christmas once again!  We’ll be alone this year.  Harry’s folks were here 17 days in Nov. so they spent Thanksgiving with us.  We were all home last yr for Xmas, but I don’t kno’ of anyone who can make it this year.
What do you think of our family?  David is twelve +makes close to $60 a mo. on his paper route.  I told him I made that much teaching school. Ruth is 8 and Peggy 2.  She chatters a mile a minute + is so thrilled about xmas.
Is there a program at the church this year?  I had to make an angel costume for Ruthie.  David is Joseph.
I just wish I had time to write letters instead of notes.  Seems I never start soon enough. but I’ll write u more after Xmas.
Best Wishes for good health + a happy holiday season.  Greetings to Max and Barbara.  Alice

Merry Christmas! Lois and Arlie

Lois and Arlie DL Antiques

I smiled at this photo.  The reception must have been held in the basement of a church.   Those windows and curtains were very typical of a church basement.   The groom is wearing a double breasted suit which was typical for the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.  The bride carried flowers on top of her Bible or Prayer Book.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)
