Happy New Years Eve!
This is a Cabinet Card that I received as a Christmas gift from my daughter Jen, I believe she shopped in Duluth Minnesota at an antique shop.
Two of the cutest children! Jen could not resist them or leave them in the shop. They might be girls…dressed alike.

Broncho busting Winona Minn
Looks to me like two boys are trying to ride a Black Angus Steer.
I can tell you from experience that the backbone of a steer is way different than that of a horse.

Just before Christmas I was looking through a bunch of photos from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota. I was certain that they were of Moe Olson. I had a hunch that his wife was Sis Olson…so I called their nephew. Yes, they were his relatives. Bruce said he would appreciate the photos so I mailed them off along with a Christmas card…even though he lives just 10 miles from me.
I mailed seven photos. Only one had made it’s way onto the blog.
Bruce was very happy to get the photos.

The photographer was Fred Fritsch of Garner Iowa.
Garner is an interesting little town. Home to the Duesenberg Brothers and another man by the name of William Henschen who is still making his mark in education in Garner.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Dec 1938 Taken at Edgewater Beach Hotel.
I think this was taken in Detroit Lakes Minnesota because there is an Edgewater Beach Hotel there, and it sure looks like the place to me.
This is that same group we have had before. The Marv, Perc, Ruby, Adeline, Chas, Verna, Alice, George McCarthy, Roy, Vic Ossell and Jinney group. We now know that Perc was Percy Johnson and Addle was Adeline Johnson. I have a stack of 25 photos that are of some of this group taken between 1937 and 1942.
I have a hunch that Chas and the gal that took most of the photos are brother and sister…or cousins. I think they were from the Detroit Lakes area, spent a fair amount of time ar Tamarac Wildlife Refuge and had friends in Princeton Minnesota.
I sure hope we can find a home for these old photos. I have been in contact with a granddaughter of Vic Ossell so we will see what happens next.

A 1955 or 1956 Ford. I think it looks like a 1956 Ford. I wonder what color it was. A light color…maybe Diamond Blue, Colonial White, Meadow Mist Green or Golden Glow Yellow?

Hiking
Lake was frozen but was very warm at the time this picture was taken.
I believe that this photo and the one yesterday are taken by the same person. So she/he has a friend named Marv. AND there is no way I would stand on a Minnesota Lake in November…fish and currents can cause thin ice.

On the back it says Winter of 38/39 Marv on the davenport
I wonder if it was a brand new davenport?

A very long time ago…in May of 2010 I returned a photo to a fellow named Bob. Sadly Bob died a few days ago and a friend of his notified me. You can read about it here.
