This is a graduation photo from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
A young man from the class of 1938. The folder that the photo is displayed in shows the Art-Deco look of the 1930’s.

It is not marked. I bet the young Navy Soldier is leaving for a port and his mother wanted a photo of all her children before he left. Gosh he looks young. I will guess that this photo was taken in the 1940’s.
Thank you to all who served our country on this Memorial Day!

These are Cabinet Cards that I purchased at the Antique Shop in Brainerd Minnesota.
Gail Moore
Two photos of the same girl taken about ten years apart. In the same photography studio Meason in La Crosse, Wis.
I will guess the first one was taken about 1889 and the second one 1899.

This is a Cabinet Card from the Antique Shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota. It may go with yesterdays Cabinet Card.
The photographer is Calfee and Marsh of Missoula, Montana. This is a beautiful cabinet card with a horse shoe and lots of floral embellishment. This is most likely a Cabinet Card from the 1890’s…she looks young to me..perhaps sixteen?

Ingalls is the photographer from Missoula Mont. I get the impression that this fellow may have just come from the barber shop, since he looks all slicked up for this photo.
This must have been order number 433 knife 130. That must be photographers lingo.
This may or may not be August T. Anderson Missoula Mont
In the 1890’s card stock with scalloped edges was very popular.

Uncle John, Aunt Lena
Mattson, Billy (under Lena’s coat)
I think that the same person wrote on the Strunk photos that I featured yesterday. Are these people and the Strunks related or is there some other connection?

This must be a foreign snapshot. I purchased it at the antique shop in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
I named it foreign looking guy. Was he an Archeologist? Maybe.

This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Bemidji Minnesota.
At first I thought it was a soldier..then I thought it was a hunter. Now I think it is a CCC worker. Civilian Conservation Corps was part of the New Deal Program of Franklin D. Roosevelt, it was a relief program from 1933 to 1942 that got young unemployed, unmarried men to work. They planted trees, built roads and bridges and worked in State Parks.

This is a snapshot from a garage sale.
A lady decorating a wedding cake in her home. I enjoyed looking around in this photo. I wonder if the tile was green or pink? Two nicely matched oak chairs are pushed up to the table. This lady must prefer the cushioned plastic chair that came with the table. Most likely this photo is from the 1950’s.

Someone is off to work. He looks like a Train Conductor to me. This snapshot was taken in September of 1955.
Note the lawn chair, they are now coming back in style.

Sometimes I buy photos for the content and sometimes for the mystery.
This photo was purchased at Buggy Wheel Antiques near Lake Park Minnesota.
The photographer was M.H. Sand of somethingville ND. It turned out to be Buttzville ND.
Buttzville had 100 residents in 1920. In 1960 it had 15 residents. It seems to be almost a ghost town with only a few residents remaining today.
Although this photo is badly faded I think you get the idea..a womans work was never done.

Grandma seems to be resting. She has pin curls in her hair so perhaps she has a big date. I will guess that this photo was taken sometime in the 1940’s or early 1950’s.

This is a Cabinet Card from the shop in Solway Minnesota.
Possibly this is a Grandmother or a favorite Aunt with two small children. She looks like she just stepped out of the kitchen with her apron on to sit a spell and have her photo taken.
The photo is marked France Chicago.

This is a CdV from the third Antique Shop in Dorset Minnesota.
We know nothing about this gentleman. I bought the photo because I liked his fat tie. I also noted that just the top button on his coat was fastened. So now I can place that along with the fat tie and stand up collar in the early 1880’s. This CdV also has rounded corners which points to the 1880’s and later.
W. E. Nelson was a photo artist in Lake City, Minnesota from 1882 to 1883.
