Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone that reads this blog has a Merry Christmas!

This is a postcard that was mailed in 1911.

I have been working really hard to get the Forgottens all caught up with for the New Year.  I have a number of photos that were mailed and I have no idea if they found their way home safely or not…so I am writing Full Circles for those photos and some Full Circles that were completed this Fall.

This is a photo from the antique shop in Moorhead Minnesota.

The photographer was Fred Fritsch of Garner Iowa. 

Garner is an interesting little town.  Home to the Duesenberg Brothers and another man by the name of William Henschen who is still making his mark in education in Garner.

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Jenkins Minnesota.

The photographer was Washburn from Spring Valley Minnesota.  He was in business from 1898-1901, 1904 and 1912.   This Cabinet Card is most likely from the 1898-1901 time.

This is a Real Photo Postcard from the antique shop in Crookston Minnesota.

Even though I purchased this photo in a different antique shop.  I think these girls are Lillian and Ella Halverson. Photos Number 2047.  But I have know way of knowing for sure.  I think those packages are something called Old Toot or Old Pull Toy??  One of the decorations on the tree is a bag with Lh on it.
 

This is an AZO postcard used from 1904 to 1918.  Mrs. R. Duncan Hatton N. Dak. was most likely the recipient of this card.

I visit a number of antique shops, one thing they all have in common is that they don’t have ALL their photos out at the same time.  Sometimes there is nothing new, but sometimes you find some photos that might be connected to an earlier Full Circle.

I emailed Erin that I had some photos that may have some connection to her Grandfather Max Hird.  Yes she wanted the photos and I mailed them off on Monday morning.  I will write a Full Circle post for these photos after Erin receives them and has a chance to reply.

I believe these photos were sold at an auction and wound up in the antique shop.  Originally I contacted another relative and she wanted nothing to do with the photos, perhaps she was cleaning out “old stuff”  I don’t know.  What I do know is that any old photo of a relative might be important to other relatives even if you don’t give a hoot.  Whatever you don’t want…pass them on.

George W Lee (7 Sep 1883 in Iowa - Nov 1966). Lived in Glenmore, La Moure, North Dakota with his wife Blanch R Lee ( July 25 1887 - Feb 1 1978)
Sometime between 1930 and 1940, they moved to Mallory, Clayton, Iowa.

Possibly Christmas morning or the day after Christmas…a little photo op with the Grandparents or a favorite Uncle and Aunt.  This photo was most likely taken in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s.

This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Pequot Lakes Minnesota.

This may have been taken on Christmas eve.  Sixty one years ago.  Isn’t it cute how they are holding hands? I love the tree and the tinsel, the television with the rabbit ears and even that graduation photo on the end table.  I think I see a temperature gauge and maybe even one that gives the humidity…and on the middle shelf of that end table I think there is a bowl with a set of nutcracking tools.

Ellen LaVerne Nagle was born on December 20, 1923 in Manvel, ND, the daughter of Walter and Rose (Murphy) Nagle.

Ellen married Odin Hoverson on February 23, 1943. The couple made their home in Manvel where together they farmed and raised their eight children.

Perhaps one of their children will find this blog post someday...and I will return the photo to them.

This is a postcard from a garage sale/flea market space that Larry owns near Grand Rapids Minnesota.

It is addressed to Miss Bertha Brukel  Milan Ill ( Milan is a small town near Moline Ill it is just south of Davenport Iowa.)

At any rate it is a postcard that was used from 1904 to 1918.

These are photos from the Then and Now Antique Shop in Alexandria Minnesota.

Both photos are marked on the back with one name.  Arthur Stanz or Stauz or Stonz ?

Now we have a clue.  Two men are wearing Minnesota shirts under their suits.  Do you suppose this was taken at the University of Minnesota?  A fraternity or some other men’s group.  There seems to be lots of trees in the photo…Forestry students?

These photos must be from the 1940’s or early 1950’s.

Look at those hats!  Did you notice the side windows next to the door…pretty fancy for 1908.

Since it is just signed by the Missus I wonder with whom she is standing?  A brother?  or a friend? He wears a wedding ring…perhaps it is her husband and she just ignored him in the greeting.

Azo postcards like this one with the triangles going up in the stamp box were used from 1904 to 1918.  So the date that is noted on the postcard is true to form.

On the back it is marked Nancy 6 and Jamie 2.

I used to have the same problem with my wool skirts that had those suspenders..they fell of my shoulders and never covered up my knobby knees.  This photo is probably from the 1950’s.

This is a photo from the Tin Ceiling in Park Rapids Minnesota.

This must have been taken in 1954 at Christmas time and developed in January of 1955.  I will guess this is a Father and a daughter posing for a photo.  Note that the gentleman has hearing aids…and that is some fancy wallpaper in the background.  I enjoyed seeing a tree covered in tinsel.

Glen(n) H and Joyce O Bartle appear in the city directory for Fargo, ND in 1945 and again in 1948. They were both teachers. They later moved to Golden Hills, in Mesa, Arizona.

Joyce was born March 6th, 1920. April 30th, 1999 Joyce Bartle passed away in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 79.
