This is most likely a foreign postcard.  On the back it says BREFKORT  Carte Postale  I think that this means it is from Sweden.

He most likely lived in Norway.  From Lars1 : Nicolai Marcelius Helgesen, worked in Bodø, Norway from 1885 (1884).

A possibility
At Find A Grave there is a Johan Eliason born 1845 Norway Died 1908 In Kandiyohi County Minnesota. He is buried in Nordland Cemetery. In the same cemetery is a Marianna Eliason 1828-1914.

A possibility:
Edit Arnesen Born May 13 1910. 
I believe her father was August Arnesen Born August4 1870 he was a Skipper in the Arctic Ocean. Her Mother Olga born March 17, 1886 and her brother Magnus born August 12 1908. This is from census records in 1910.

This looks to be a Cabinet Card from the late 1860’s from the clothing.  However it may be a reprint as according to the back of the photo the latest date is 1882.

Aunt Bety daughter granddaughter fathers only sister.

In other words a three generation photograph.

I call this one girl on the wall.

See her photo off to the right?  I will guess that those are her parents in photos and herself as a small child right behind her and someones family farm. This 8 x 10 is slightly colored.

The only other clue we have is:

Veitvedt Foto       Possibly a photography studio in Norway, the first photo is in a folder marked Veitvedt Foto.  The second photo is not in a folder.

A tree on Ancestry has this same photo attached to Ettie May Snider (1873-1901). According to this family tree, she married William Wallace Oakes (1866-?). Three children are listed; Elsie May (1889-1972), Erie Agnes (1891-?), and Ella Eleta (1895-1995).

We see two Navy Servicemen…one with a fuzzy light colored dog the other sitting high on a rock, two women, a girl with a cow or horse behind her and off to the right a horse.

Salona is an ancient city that lies in ruins near Split Croatia.

A lady from the late 1860’s to 1870’s.  Her dress has a dropped shoulder and you can see her ears…typical of a CdV from that time period.

H. C. Larson in Silkeborg was the photographer.  Silkeborg is in Denmark.
