The Drysdale Studio Fargo ND was the photographer.  He was in business there from 1905-1907.

Since this photo was at the train station I wonder what this fellows job was…did he shine shoes…or did he have some other job on the railroad?

This is an old photo that is not very good quality.  I purchased it because it reminded me of a childhood memory.  When I was little there was a place along Washington Avenue in Detroit Lakes Minnesota that had kiddie rides, a train ride and boats in a big water tank going round and round.  I remember both of those rides …there may have been more…and ice cream!  It was a permanent place adjacent to a motel and was a real fun place to go on a Sunday afternoon.

This one could be from a similar place or it could have been with a traveling Carnival.

Roy Hamilton Combs (13 March 1888 in Page, North Dakota - November 1967) was the son of Sarah Combs (1861-1947) who was widowed by age 47 according to the 1910 US census and Richard F. Combs (Dec. 2, 1855 - Sep. 29, 1906.)

Roy and his wife Belle (1888-1969) had son Duane A (29 July 1915 - 26 September 1991) Duane's wife, Fern Ernestina nee Goltz Combs (Mar., 1915 - Nov. 30, 2007)  which implies the baby might have been Jim.

My husband has a model train collection.  O scale, technically O27.   I have found a few old black and whites of trains..old photos of trains are few and far between.

This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.

A Great Northern passenger car.   I wonder if they got off the train for lunch?  Is that their lunch off to the right stacked neatly?  Where were they going?  Where had they been?

I love to travel by train..I have been to the West Coast several times..there is nothing quite like traveling on the train.

I purchased this photo in an antique shop in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.  It looks like some Canadian Mounties guarding a train..and then there is the guy in the kilt.  It must be a welcoming ceremony.

In 1939 King George VI became the first "reigning monarch" to visit Canada. During that trip, the King's consort, Queen Elizabeth, initiated the tradition of the "royal walkabout", though her brother-in-law, The Duke of Windsor (formerly Edward VIII), had when still The Prince of Wales in 1919 been frequently meeting with everyday Canadian people; as he said: "Getting off the train to stretch my legs, I would start up conversations with farmers, section hands, miners, small town editors or newly arrived immigrants from Europe."

The 1939 royal tour of Canada was a cross-Canada royal tour by George VI and Queen Elizabeth. It was the first visit of a reigning monarch to Canada. It began 17 May 1939, and saw the royal couple visit every Canadian province as well as the United States and the Dominion of Newfoundland.
