Hunting DL ant

This was probably taken in November of 1958 and developed in Feb 1959.

When I was growing up, this was a normal scene, cars with deer on top…maybe people didn’t have as many pick up trucks back then.

Thanks for stopping by.

Looks like Frank is resting after a successful hunt, looks like he bagged a rabbit and a pheasant.

That might be one of those Stormy Kromer hats from Michigan.

We have a bonus with this one.
Jimmie Mildred and Jamie Grand Forks ND
Franklin Herefords  Slater MO
That must be little Jamie in the truck!  I bet his last name is Franklin.
That looks to me like a 1947 Two Ton Truck…but I am no expert on vehicles.  It looks like a well used truck so this photo was most likely taken in the 1950’s sometime.  He has been hunting.
Thanks for stopping by.

Update from Iggy:
James L(eroy?) Franklin (February 23, 1920 - September 27, 2001) and Mildred A. Franklin (September 3, 1914 - June 26, 2008) owned the Franklin Polled Hereford Farm outside of Slater, Missourri.

Their son, also "Jim," apparently still lives there.

The truck is indeed a a 1947-1955 era Chevrolet "Grain Truck". The back actually hinged like a dump truck.

We continue with the photo that Miss M took. 1938 Summer at Detroit Cottage

1938 Summer at Detroit Cottage back

1938 Summer at Detroit Cottage.  Charlie had worked all night at brownies.  The people next door had invited the whole congregation of the Swedish church out there.

Detroit Lakes is often called Detroit…or at least it was back in the day.  I think she is differentiating between the cottage at Detroit Lake and Tamarac Lake.

I think her family had hunting property out at Tamarac.

November 1939  Duck Hunting at Tamarac   Marv and Charlie

I am thinking that Charlie was not much of a hunter.  Marv was.  I think, and I stress think that our Miss M is Marv. short for Marvel  or Marcella Vivian or something else???  Perhaps her Mom wrote on the back of this photo?

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)
