Update from Abra:
I checked the Minnesota Online marriage index & found Ernest F. Kuske wed Elsie C. Haase in Steele County MN on 9-18-1929. I am thinking this may be your bride & groom. Furthermore, I found a few photographers with the last name Fritsch, which is what I believe the photographer’s name is, specifically Henry Fritsch, who operated in MN in the 1900’s, 1920’s, 1930’s, & 1950s. He owned a studio in Owatonna, MN(Steele Co). This all fits together.
I found Ernie & Elsie in the 1930 census in Polk Co. Wisconsin. They were age 42 & 35 (so 41 & 34 when they married), so that explains why they look old—that was old back then! I believe they had one daughter, according to a family census record. I have some other last names of living people(their daughter & grandchildren), but it will take a little more work to get the first names. They lived in Wisconsin, and their daughter in Ohio, so it is not as easy for me to access those records, as those states don’t have as much publically available. ~Abra

Looking at the 1930 census details, it states this was the first marriage for Ernest & Elsie, who were 41 & 35 when they married. While Ernest was from Polk Co. Wisconsin, Elsie grew up in/around Owatonna. I have found details of their daughter & grandchildren, but there are numerous people with the same first & last name, so some sifting will be necessary. I believe Ernest's & Elsie's daughter may be alive, and all four grandchildren. ~Abra

And from Kenny!
I played around with enhancing the scan a little and it does indeed say: Ernest Kuske + Elsie wedding. Abra has done it again!!

Update June 30, 2011
I sent off a copy of this blog to Marilyn, she would be the Ernest and Elsie's daughter, we will see what happens next:)

Update:  February 17, 2011
Henry Fritsch was my grandfather, and he did run his photo studio in Owatonna, MN. My Dad, Fred Fritsch, tells many stories and has many photographs from his father's studio.

  3. No, I was thinking she looks old too. He has a receding hairline, so perhaps they are a bit older. Those glasses on women make them look older too, so she could be younger than we perceive.

  9. I found a 1926 canceled check that my grandma Annabelle Carlson wrote to Fritsch Studio for 70 cents. It is endorsed on the back by a Fred Fritsch. I wonder if this is the same studio and Fred Fritsch mentioned above. Has anyone come across a price list or other information on the studio? I haven't done any other research so any information or guidance would be appreciated.
