Two handsome fellers! Look how the fellow on the right has that tie bulging out from his chest.
Edwin Nelson and Mr. Kudh Rudh
This is an Azo Postcard with triangles up in the stamp box so it was used from 1904 to 1918.
Thanks for stopping by.
There are a lot of Edwin Nelson's out there. I'll look more when time permits - how old would you say he is?
ReplyDeleteI am nearly certain the other gent's last name is Rudh. There are several in the Otter Tail county area.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=53407672 shows a large Rudh family - one of which might be this man.
DeleteI think this photo was taken about 1915 and the boys look at least 18 to me so someone born about 1898 give or take a year or two.
DeleteGoes to show how important regional variations are: I would have thought with a name like Rudh that it would surely pinpoint the exact person...but a large family? This might turn into more of a challenge than I thought.
ReplyDeleteYes, that tie is rather pronounced, isn't it? Wonder if that was an extreme version of a style, or just inattentiveness by the photographer. Would have thought someone in the studio would save their customers from embarrassing themselves on something as permanent as a photograph back then.
