There are a lot of Edwin Nelson's out there. I'll look more when time permits - how old would you say he is?I am nearly certain the other gent's last name is Rudh. There are several in the Otter Tail county area.

I think this photo was taken about 1915 and the boys look at least 18 to me so someone born about 1898 give or take a year or two.
Goes to show how important regional variations are: I would have thought with a name like Rudh that it would surely pinpoint the exact person...but a large family? This might turn into more of a challenge than I thought.Yes, that tie is rather pronounced, isn't it? Wonder if that was an extreme version of a style, or just inattentiveness by the photographer. Would have thought someone in the studio would save their customers from embarrassing themselves on something as permanent as a photograph back then.
