Henry Kent
Going to meet Daddy
This is a strange postcard…I think it is a Karbo Real Photo Postcard from 1909.
The little boy looks to be about 2 1/2 years old.

Thanks for stopping by.

Update from Sue:
This could be Henry Edward Kent, born 6-9-1907. He is shown living with his parents in the 1910 and 1920 census in Minneapolis.

  1. This could be Henry Edward Kent, born 6-9-1907. He is shown living with his parents in the 1910 and 1920 census in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Marriage records show him marrying Lillian C. Walsh in 1925, and they show up together living on Blaisdell Ave in Minneapolis the 1930 census (which states they were both 18 at their first marriage). In the 1940 census, Henry is shown as living with his mother on 4th street in Minneapolis and it states this is the same residence he had in 1935. Lillian is not part of the family at this point, but I was not able to find any death information, so it is probably they were divorced. I did find another marriage entry for Henry E. Kent to Mary L. Linn, in 1945 in Hennepin County. Social security and Minnesota death indexes show his death as 11-12-1994. Henry appeared to be an only child and I could not find a record of him having any children.

  2. What an adorable photo! When I saw that label, "Going to meet Daddy," my first thought was of a child born while his father was away at war...but the dates certainly don't bear that out. Still, makes one wonder what the back story might have been...

  3. You will see the same boy on the Hennepin Historical Museum site:

http://www.octagon.bobanna.com/MN.html (about 1/3 way down). He lived in an octagon house.
