This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
O.E. Flaten was a photographer in Moorhead Minnesota from 1880 to 1928. This photo was most likely taken in the 1880’s..the skirt has pleated edges and a bustle, the tight filling jacket has a high collar…her hair is pulled back with some curls at the front.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
How severe...yet ornate. Pulled back, but with so many details.
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered how it would feel to wear one of those bustles. Wonder if that contributed to the hump on her back in compensation for the weight of the contraption pulling her out of balance???
O.E. Flaten must have taken a lot of photos, for his work is around all over!
ReplyDeleteI'm no expert but I think that *bump* on her tail was a sausage shaped cushion worn on a belt. I can't imagine the reason for fashion, unless the ladies were so thin back in the day that a fuller rump was "sexy".
Yes he was a prolific photographer, as was his brother.
DeleteLOL..yes fashion can be questionable.
