Hubertz is what I think it says.  I did find a J A Hubertz that was a photographer in Fargo, North Dakota from 1907 to 1936.  He was said to have an Electric Light Studio, taking photographs just as good in the evening as in the daylight.  I think that this photograph may date from 1907 to 1920 sometime because the young man is wearing knickers.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

Update from Iggy:
Mary (b. abt 1901) and John (b. abt 1903) to William J and Elizabeth Welsh. The 1920 US census lists them along with six younger siblings!

  3. Hi, I think these last two posts could be confirmation because of the ages of the children and the first two held candles. There was also a celebration called solemn communion that came after first communion, but I would think confirmation. My dad has a similar picture with his sister.

  7. I've not been able to determine what became of Mary and John. From what I see/piece together, a sizable portion of the family looks like it moved to St. Paul sometime around/after 1930.

Mary Welsh (b. 26-Apr-1900 d. May-1972 at age 72 in Saint Paul, Ramsey, MN)

John Welsh (b. 28-Sep-1902 d. Sep-1985 at age 82-83 in Saint Paul, Ramsey, MN)

Three or four of the younger siblings also appear to have lived/died in St. Paul.

The photographer had an interesting life.
