Thanks for stopping by.
Update from Sue:
William A. Knuckey (b.1858) OR William H. Knuckey (b. 1861) at Galena, Jo Daviess, Illinois abt 1895. This could be either of two cousins born and raised in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. William H. Knuckey was living in Kern County, CA in 1920, and the photo was found in Sacramento, CA.
I suspect the last name is spelled wrong - but I'm not sure what the right spelling might have been.
ReplyDeleteMuckey, maybe.
ReplyDeleteA look of self-confidence!
ReplyDeleteHenry Erdtmann Henning (1863 - 1902) was the photographer. He opened his shop in Galena in 1885 and died of Bright's Disease (a disorder of the kidneys caused by protein in the urine) in 1902.
ReplyDeleteThe photo must date from 1885-1902.
According to some previous information Craig put out on ancestry: William A. Note on back is: "Wm. Nuckey, uncle by marriage". The Galena, IL photographer H.K. Henning died in 1902. Hopefully this gives us some more to work with.
ReplyDeleteYou might be on to something Sue!
DeleteOh, my! That gaze is almost arresting! I'm guessing this one should place at the earlier end of Iggy's range for the photographer (1885-1902). It seems to be an earlier style of photograph.
