Photo Number 333

kids and cute dog Grand rapids

I purchased this Cabinet Card in Grand Rapids recently. These kids strike an excellent pose..especially the little boy.  Obviously the dog was a very important member of this family!  The dog I think must be a long haired dachshund..maybe with the name Queenie..or Lady..or maybe it is a Rex!  I could not pass up this cabinet card, even if it was 3 dollars..

A Larson had his business at 313 Washington Ave S Minneapolis from 1882 to 1905.  This type of cabinet card with the notched edges was a popular card style from 1894 to 1900.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

  1. I love the Napoleon pose the boy has with his hand stuck in his shirt. The clothes look very warm and heavy - and that girl! she's such a doll!

  2. This might be my favorite photo of all! What cute children and the boy's pose cracks me up. Precious little dog too.

  3. That is a very cute pair of children and I love the dog!! Their clothes are so pretty and I bet they loved to put their fingers into the fur around the dog's neck and burrow.

  4. The dog was a part of the pack. He is so sweet and the children are too.

  5. He looks like a Sussex Spaniel or a mix of one to me. The AKC says that Sussex Spaniels may not be any color except a "rich golden liver" and that white on the chest is a serious fault, but I don't think people paid much attention to what the AKC had to say about the color of dogs as long as they could do their job in those days.
