I believe the photographer is Gates in Waverly.
Waverly…Iowa maybe or
Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.
I did a search and found that Gates was a photographer in Waverly Illinois. Waverly is in Morgan County.
John Cox
The young man seems to be about 16 years old…and the photo taken right around 1900 maybe a little earlier.
There are 249 possibilities at Find A Grave…one of the first ones listed a John Cox 1875 to 1926 buried in Morgan County…of course many can be eliminated because of their birthdate…no I did not go through all the names.

This is a tough one - I'm not 100% sure that it says Waverly - the "v" looks a lot like a "z" to me - but that doesn't make much sense.

He was a photographer in Waverly, Illinois from 1876 until his death. At the time of his death, his gallery was the oldest, established business in Waverly. Find A Grave Memorial# 100816876
