Shaffer is the photographer at Cor. 5th and Alleghany Sts. Huntingdon, Pa.
I think this says Minnie Wishant…or Nishant edited to Wishart
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
Update from Iggy:
I am pretty sure this is Minnie (Mary) Wishart (b. abt 1862). Her father, Dr. John Wilson Wishart (b. abt 1830), was a surgeon during the Civil War (he was very busy at Gettysburg where his unit suffered badly). They later lived in Pittsburgh, PA.
Minnie/Mary and her sister Alice never married and lived together in Pittsburgh, where they ran a "rooming house".
The surname could be Wishart - it's quite common in Scotland :-) Jo

ReplyDeletehttp://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=91127718 It doesn't show anything other than she died in 1950.
She looks unsettled in this photo. Wonderful little bit of history to go with it.
ReplyDeleteNeither sister married. Wonder what their stories could have been.
