This is an old photograph from the antique shop in Solway Minnesota.
I rarely see Fathers and small children together, but when you do it makes for a wonderful photo.
The Photographer is R.F. Ray of Rushville Neb
I will guess that the photo is from 1910 to 1920.
Do you notice anything strange? They are both smiling!
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
What a sweet photo and I don't think I've ever seen a father & baby from that time period. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteSeen all the pictures in your 'parent and child' series so far, and this is a refreshing and lovely addition. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful photograph! And you never see pictures with Dad's and their offspring together and like you said....smiling! The photographer really captured something special there. It's art worthy!
ReplyDeleteThat is one proud father and one happy baby!!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing photo. I, too, can't recall where I've seen a professional photo with just a father and baby, and of course it is extra special they are smiling. 2 rarities in one lovely photo! ~Abra
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing pose for that time in history. It is a great shot and was allowed to be informal and personal. Neat.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great one. Father and baby. And smiling!
ReplyDeleteI found that the photographer is B.F. Ray (Benjamin). He lived in Ottertail Co. MN for a short time, and his twin sons from his first marriage were born there. His first wife died the same year the twins were born (1884). His sons were raised mostly by his parents in Indiana. He then later relocated to Nebraska, where he remarried in 1897 and had three more children. Since he was a resident of MN for a short time, he may have relatives or friends here and so this could be of one of them, perhaps. I sent a message to someone who has him in their family tree, just to see if they can possibly identify the father & child in the photo. It might be a long shot, but would certainly be great if we could get this unique photo back to its family! ~Abra
