Photo Number Ninety-Nine

This is a photo from South Dakota/ Illinois.  This is Edna  Flisner or Flisnes her photo was taken at Wilkes or Wilker 3810 State Street Chicago.  The dark folders are very difficult to read. I would venture to guess that this was taken around 1900. ( Changing my guess to 1910 )  She has on a single strand of pearls.
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
Update ***
From Norkio:Well, Ancestry says there is an Edna Flessner born in 1888 in Illinois who by 1910 was in South Dakota. What are the chances? Ms Flessner was 22 in 1910 and living at a school district (??) so perhaps she was a teacher?

  3. Her hairstyle reminds me of a Gibson girl hairdo. I think it was popular during that era around 1900.
Norkio is amazing with her ability to find out information. Wonder if it is the same Edna Flessner?

  4. Norkio, Could be that she was a teacher. Jinglebobs Grandma went to South Dakota in 1908..so they could have been friends in Illinois and ended up in the same area of South Dakota.
Thanks for the info that you found! I do appreciate it :)

  5. I first thought it interesting that family left the Chicago area but it was big town then as much. I guess my great grandfather left half his family in Burlington,Ia and they all ended up all over Illinois while the other half is here in Iowa

  6. I have a photo postcard from Emma Mae Flessner addressed to my grandmother. Unfortunately, I don't know who Ms. Flessner is. The postcard does not have a postmark on it either.

  7. Hi Sandy Kay, Interesting about your post card..sometimes it is maddening to try to figure out the connection! I did find an Emma M. Flessner that along with Everett M Ammauer had a child named Georgia Louise on Feb 11 1933 in Colorado County, Texas.. who knows if it is your Emma Mae or not:)

  8. I have a picture by this same photographer. His name was Thomas F. Walker, and the Chicago Lakeside Directory only shows him at this address for the year 1906. That does not mean the photo was necessarily taken in that year, as he may have had frames left over after he moved from this location; however, it does help to date it.

  9. Just checked my notes, and need to revise my comments onthis picture. Apparently, 1906 was not the only year Thomas F Walker was at this location, it was the last year he was at 3810 State Street. He is found there going back at least as far as 1895; but, in 1907 he moved his studio to 232 Belmont Street. Sorry for any confusion.
