This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Brainerd Minnesota.  G. F. Martin was the photographer of 134 and 136 West Market Street Louisville, Ky.

Cabinet Card Carl Edwin Foreman Brainerd Antiques back

The pencil marks are faint.  I have enhanced them.  I believe it says Carl Edwin Foreman 1 yr 8 mos. old

I think this cabinet card looks to be from 1895 to 1900.  Note his hair is parted on the side, typical for a little boy.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)

  1. Carl E Foreman appears in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 US censuses, son of Rudy/Rudolph and Lizzie/Elizabeth Foreman. His date of birth is given as Feb 1897, 1898, and 1899 - and he was born in Kentucky.

I think he married a woman named Mary - (the 1930 US census shows him as Carl Forman) and died in Ranger, Eastland county, Texas in 1983.

  2. Such a sweet and healthy baby - love the info provided in comment above!

  3. I was mistaken. Carl may have died in Louisville, Kentucky. The census records are confusing since Carl's last name is spelled, Foreman, Forman, Formon, and his WWI draft registration has Forman (but it is definitely the same Carl Edwin For(e)man born 20 Feb 1898.)

Carl E. Forman had a son with the same name, buried in Louisville, KY - Perhaps his obit is online.

The name on the back of the photo definitely has an "e" in it though.

  4. This may be his son
FORMAN, CARL E. "BUGS," died Friday, October 15, 2010 at St. Luke Nursing Home in North Canton, OH.

Until recently, he had lived the last 20 years in Louisville. He was born August 14, 1923 in Louisville to Carl E. and Mary Lee (Drane) Forman. He graduated from DuPont Manual High School and attended University of Louisville. He retired in 1975 after 30 years of service in the U.S. Army. He had achieved the rank of command sergeant major. He was a former commander of VFW Mill Creek Post #5421. Even though he retired, he continued his passion for the military and our country. He enjoyed football, baseball, golf and horse racing and he was an avid Ohio State football fan and attended many games.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jay and Rudy Forman; sisters, Helen Nunn and Rita Rodgers; and brother-in-law, Otis Nunn.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years

He does have children..I will see what I can find:)

  5. I sent a email to Carla in Ohio we will see what happens next:) Connie

  6. Well...that was quick! Looks like that cute lil guy will be finding a home in short order!

  7. Wow, you have my Dad - Carl & I believe that is my Grandfather - Carl Sr. I know his birthday was Feb. 20th, can't remember the year he was born or died, but I do have that at home in my Bible. I live in Canton, OH, but all of my cousins & 2 Aunts still live in Louisville. I will contact them through Facebook about it.

    Thank You!
