John Phillips and his sons were in Lake City from 1878 to 1879, then from the 1890s to 1902. I will guess that this CdV was taken in 1878 or 1879 because of the lacy trims around her neck and the pleated cuffs on her sleeves. Her hair is simply pulled back and adorned with what looks to be a velvet headband or ribbon. Since she has flowers on her bodice this may be a wedding photograph.
We have a name. Amanda Josephson
Mrs John Stilly
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

He had a son still living in Modesto - I'll email this info.
I've not had time to trace Amanda's daughter Ellen - perhaps she had offspring.
Joe Richard died on his birthday..I have known quite a few people that has happened too. Makes a person wonder sometimes
DeleteIggy found an address for a Great Grandson of Amanda's in California. I will mail off a copy of this blog to see if he wants the photograph:)
DeleteOh, wow, Iggy, I checked that link for Find A Grave. That is less than an hour's drive from me. Far Side, if you need someone to do some local checking, let me know. How exciting to have a potential Full Circle come so close to home!
DeleteFunnily enough she looks like a boy scout I featured today in a post. Same pose, same eyes.
