Photo Number 787

This is a photo from the Antique Shop in Perham Minnesota.
Lady with hat and she is sick Perham
This ladies hat seems almost like a tricorn style hat..and that dress appears to be very low cut and those pockets are huge.  Do you suppose she designed this creation herself?

Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

Update from Futura:
Tricorn style hats were fairly popular in 1917 and 1918. This outfit is actually quite typical for the late 1910s and most likely would have been marketed as a "Walking Suit" underneath the jacket would have been a lightweight blouse of some sort, with a low-ish neckline, in a light or pale color that did not register in this photo.

  1. I'm not certain, but it almost appears that there is a light colored scoop necked shirt under that jacket (or I am imagining it because I think that neckline is almost scandalous for the era...). I love the jacket-I would wear that if I could get my hands on it! ;-) As her comment that it is a bum photo because she is sick--I wish I looked that good sick. :-) ~Abra

  2. I agree with Abra. I think it's a coat/jacket as I can see a light colored garment around the more appropriate neckline area. The jacket by itself would be quite in line with today's styles though. Hope she's feeling better now! Ha! Ha!

  4. I think I see a necklace chain and a "white colored" shirt. I don't know if its the lighting or what, but the black shadows under her eyes do not look good.

  5. I didn't realize that slang word went back that far. My mother used to say she's was felling a little bum when she was not feeling well. Who knew?
