Photo Number 229

I have exhausted my supply of wedding photos, but I do have this one to share..a photo of "THE" place to go on a honeymoon.  Niagara Falls, at least I think it is Niagara Falls.( Thanks to Abra we now know it is Shoshone Falls Near Twin Falls, Idaho! )  I have never been there. Perhaps some of my readers have been?  This photo was probably taken in the late 1940's or early 1950's.  Somehow, I think this is a family photo and not a newlywed photo.  Note the casual bobby socks and the jean roll on the gal to the left!
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

  1. I did go to Niagara Falls in the mid-50s and I don't remember the land looking like that. That looks far more rugged than the land around the falls. I could certainly be wrong. The lack of vegetation seems strange. This looks more like out west, but I can't think of which one it could be.

  2. I was at Niagara in the 1970's and it seemed an awful lot bigger than the photo shows - perhaps the pic was taken from a different angle, or perhaps as a wee Scottish 12-year-old I was overwhelmed and remember the Falls as ENORMOUS! :-) Jo

  3. I agree Scottish Genealogist. These falls look too small. Let's hope someone who knows the falls steps forward. My best memory is going down a long tunnel dressed in a slicker/boots/hat and going behind the falls. Massive sound.

  4. I did a little searching, as it appeared the landscape was more western feeling, as well. I found a top ten waterfalls site, and it appears that this photo was taken at Shoshone Falls, near Twin Falls Idaho. Here is my link to a color photo: http://attractions.uptake.com/blog/top-ten-waterfalls-united-states-2546.html

  7. Looks like a wonderful place to visit. I've never heard of it before. Everyone is wearing coats/jackets. Right now I would welcome a visit to some place cool.

  8. I love it when it happens to someone else. I blog about something and by the time I get done, I have been corrected to making me think I never knew what I was talking about. Check out my insect on one of my blogs. A lady from India straightened me out about a damselfly and another guy gave me an exact name. It really was funny as I kept correcting my blog, over and over again.
