Photo Number 1796

This is a Cabinet Card from Craig’s Collection.
Mrs and Mrs Craigs
H W Lawrence was the photographer in Mantorville Minn.
Mantorville is a quaint little town, it was named after Peter and Riley Mantor in 1853.  Mantorville is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  All twelve blocks downown comprise the Historical District.  Limestone was a quality building material back in the day and required many laborers so the little town thrived.
I should probably visit there someday.

  3. I contacted the Minnesota Historical Society because this photographer was not in their database. They would like the photo if it doesn't find a home.

  4. Haakon Waldemar Lawrence (1867 – 1950), the photographer, story is told here:

He doesn't appear to have worked in Minnesota for all that long *perhaps* ten years or less.

  5. The first thing I noticed is how much unused space there is on the card. (Forgive my lack of photography terminology.)

  6. This one's like a two-fer! Found both the family of the subjects and a new record of a Minnesota photographer!
