Mada Ezra Kruger Alba Oertli Grandma Kruger
aprox 1916
I featured some Oertli’s before
Photo Number 1288 featured Roy, Rose and Edna along with Martha Nack in 1958 before Roy died.
This is what we know about them…from Iggy:
Roy Oliver Young Oertli (b. 30 Jul 1894 - d. 13 Dec 1958), son of Arnold and Christina Oertli, lived in Aberdeen and later in Ordway, Brown, South Dakota with his sister Edna (b. Sep 1886 d. ?) Roy and Edna appear to have never married. Rose nee' Krueger was married to Walter Oertli, and appears to have been a cousin-in-law (but I didn't find the exact linkage between Walter and Roy). Rose was Martha's sister.
In the 1920 US Census, Martha Margaret Krueger Nack (Mar. 30, 1883 - Jun. 11, 1971) is listed as a next door neighbor to Rose and Walter Oertli, living in Eldred, Cass, North Dakota.
The gentleman who has the booth with all the photos at an Antique Mall in Detroit Lakes, only brings in a few photos from his “stash” at a time. So sometimes I find more photos with names that should have gone together in the first place.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
From Iggy:
Magda (Magdalena) Oertli (c. 1816 in Switzerland), was the wife of Henry Oertli (c. 1808 in Switzerland). They were Arnold Oertli's parents (Roy's grandparents).
Walter Phillip Oertli (b. 30 Apr 1878) was the husband of Rose Krueger. His parents were Conrad (July 1843 in Switzerland) and Louise Oertli. Henry and Conrad were brothers. I'll let someone else figure out the "cousin" relationship between Walter and Roy. :)
According to the 1900 US census, Rose had 14 brothers and sisters (including Martha).
