Photo Number 179

This is Myrtle Van Zant, I got this photo at the Antique shop in Park Rapids, Minnesota.  It is a Cyko Real Photo Postcard from 1904 to 1920.  It is most likely from around 1910.
Somewhere in Far Guys family the name Van Zant comes up..someone a long time ago married someone by that name..probably no relation to this lovely lady.
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

  2. My goodness, I had a former student that could have posed for this photo. The eyes, nose, and expression are exactly the same.

  4. A name like Myrtle is uncommon today but was a popular 19th century name, much like Henrietta, Agnes, etc. I wonder if Ms Van Zant could be found on Ancestry...? I'm on vacation so no time to look now dang it.

  5. I am just back from a long crazy weekend out of town, so need to do some catching up. I did a preliminary search, with not much success, but will return to it later, and see if I can connect what I have found to this photo.

  6. This is a tricky one since Van Zant has a number of spelling variations.

I'm guessing she is about 20-ish from the picture and that she was born around 1890-ish.

Using the SSN death records, the strongest possibility seems to be:

VANZANT, MYRTLE 16-Mar-1893 Oct-1975 age 82 30315 (Atlanta, Fulton, GA) SSN issued Tennessee.

So it seems the SSN Myrtle is from TN. Which ties into the one mentioned in this obituary for her son.

Possibly Walter "Woody" Van Zant's son, Gary Van Zant; grandson, David Van Zant; sister, Aline Macklin are relatives?
