This is a Cabinet Card from the third antique shop in Dorset Minnesota.
Phillips from Lake City was the photographer. John Phillips was there in 1878 and 1879. He was a very prolific photographer and three of his sons were also photographers ( C.A. F.H. and Wellington J.). C. A. Phillips was in business in the 1890’s in Lake City.
This lady looks like she is going traveling. She is really upstaged by that tablecloth..as it is the first thing I see in the photograph. The photo is not marked.
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
I noticed the hat first. It seems dangerously perched on her hair. There must be a lot of bobby pins if she is going on a trip. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteMy first impression was "oh my, a nun!" (perhaps as in Sister Bertrille?)
ReplyDeleteShe looks a lot like what I imagine my grandmother looking like at a young age - but she would never have worn such a "in your face hat"!
Was that Sally Field in the Flying Nun?
DeleteYep. :)
DeleteInteresting hat. :) The tablecloth is very pretty. Thanks for all of these wonderful photographs!
ReplyDeleteI wonder where her adventure was taking her. She was ready for it wasn't she? Being a hat lover, I have to say, I'm not so fond of this one.
