This is a Real Photo Postcard from the Antique Mall in Detroit Lake Minnesota.
Helmer and Signe Vermerold DL Ant
Helmer and Signe Vermerold DL Ant
Helmer and Signe Vermerold Vennevold
This is a Real Photo Postcard that was used from 1904 to 1918. The eyelet dress is lovely and the hair ornament must be one of a kind.   The little boy sports a sailor suit with knickers.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again.

Update from Lars:
Helmer Vennevold (1907-2002)
Signe Vennevold (1902-1952

It seems at least Helmer had children.

Their father's name was Lars Vennevoldhjell (probably simplified to Vennevold), which is a farm name from Sunndal in Møre and Romsdal county, Norway, a few hours drive south of Trondheim. This link confirms that Lars came from Sunndal.

Update from Iggy:
Helmer Orlando Vennevold (1 Jun 1907 in Barrett, Minnesota - 20 Apr 2002) married Alpha Hilderth Merkegard (1 Mar 1913 - 2 Feb 2008) on 3 Feb 1931. Alpha was the daughter of Andrew and Hannah (Larson) Markegard. they had two children, Betty and Richard.

His older sister, Signe Mary Vennevold (Jun. 27, 1902 - Nov. 4, 1952)

They were the children of Lars O.  and Gurina (Gina) Vennevold

  4. Wow! It's a race to the finish between Lars and Iggy, before I even get up in the morning--much less am ready to even think straight!

  5. With all the detail on the clothes - could they have been affluent?

And slight smiles on their faces - that's unusual.

  7. Hi, that young boy in this photo is my Great Grandfather. I'm at a loss for words at the moment. I've been trying to figure out where exactly in Norway my Great Great grandfather was from and this is the first I've. Heard of Sunndal or my last name having once been Vennevoldjhell... incredible. How did you come across this picture, or rather postcard?

Kare, how do you also have this photo? Was it a generic mass produced postcard, or maybe that's too big of a coincidence. Long lost family?

  8. Hi, that young boy in this photo is my Great grandfather. I am speechless at the moment, I've been trying to find out where in Norway my family was from and finding a photo of "papa" as a boy online, unreal. How did you come across this photo, and where is it now?

Kare, how is it that you also have this photo? It would be quite the coincidence that this was a mass produced postcard that made it's way back to Norway. After some research over the last hour I've found that my great great granfather, Lars, was from Sunndal... and our old family name was Vennevoldjhell, what?! So cool. coincindece, or perhaps long lost family?
