This is a photo from the antique mall in Moorhead Minnesota.

On the back we find that Nellie Smith is John A’s wife.

Their hats are shading their faces.  I think this photo might be from 1905 to 1915.  edited to 1901 Sandstone is in Pine County.
Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again.

Update from Iggy:
John Congdon Smith (4 Apr 1843 - 6 Mar 1919) and Josephine (May 1843 - ?) had

John A Smith (abt 1871), was widowed in 1910 (poor Nellie).

Erastus Smith (Nov 1873 - 7 Nov 1901) He was a law clerk at Great Western Elevator Co.; later with Minnesota Sandstone Co. Given he died at the end of 1901, the photo probably dates to shortly before that.

Edna Lamb Smith (18 Mar 1878 - 17 Oct 1964) married Levi Beckley Pease (1 Aug 1872 - 14 Feb 1969) on 30 Jun 1909. Levi was a professor in Minneapolis.

  2. Guess they got that photograph done just in time! If Iggy hasn't already, I'll check for obits for Levi in Minneapolis. Might be able to find mention of some descendants! I feel a Full Circle coming on...

    1. They had a son Sherman Levi Pease, that passed away in Tucson on 4 Feb 2000. I couldn't find an obit. they also had a daughter, Josephine M. Pease Hutchinson, who I didn't trace.

Great that you made these findings, considering the name Smith. Keep my fingers crossed...!
