Meet cute little Charles Hall. It looks like he is standing on a piece work quilt in front of a piano. He wears a long sleeve top with a scarf like tie and knickers, with long black socks and button up shoes. He is holding something in his hand..perhaps a card.

Master Charles R. Hall age 4 years and the postcard is addressed to Mrs. Mett Hall Harrold S. Dak.
It is a Kruxo card, probably from 1907 to 1920. I will guess that this Real Photo Postcard is from 1918. I say that because I have photographs of my Father In Law with the same haircut and dressed in a very similar fashion in 1918.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
I agree on the date. 1918 seems right. Good save.
ReplyDeleteDarling photo.
ReplyDeleteWell...with a name like Hall, what are the chances? But there are a couple entries in both the 1910 and 1920 census for Hall families in Harrold, South Dakota. But no "Mett"--unless Mett is short for Maryetta or Margaret. Interestingly, in the 1920 census, there is an 8 year old Charles in the household of John Hall in Harrold, but the child's surname is overwritten so badly that it is hard to make out. For relationship, he is listed as "in charge" and unlike the rest of the family, was born in Oregon. Not sure this would be your Master Charles, but maybe...
ReplyDelete...laffs at Jacqi's "Charles in Charge."
ReplyDeleteHe does sort of look like Scott Baio...
At any rate, other than finding a Charles Ralph Hall in Harrold that seemed to be way too old to be this one - perhaps the boy in the photo was his son? - I've not found any proof at all - anywhere.
