This is a photo from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
A lovely couple posed on one of those old photographers stand by an animal rug. The bride is wearing a pastel colored skirt and jacket with a white blouse and a long wedding bonnet that is adorned with flowers. Both the bride and the groom are wearing a corsage of flowers and they are showing off their rings quite nicely. We even have a couple that seem to be looking at the photographer and they are almost smiling!
I think this photo is from 1898 or 1899.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
Excellent find! The colors of the gown were probably blue and white.
ReplyDeleteThis chair appears to be the same design as this one:

But they are not the SAME chair.
What a lovely couple. That is some head ornament. I would think that was pretty elaborate back in the day. He looks very dashing indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe style of dress reminds me of the "Eton" jacket and skirt. See here for a modern example. http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php/v/comments/AL1.jpeg.html The trim on her skirt was quite popular - I have several photographs with the trim curving up toward the back, like a smile.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha..you are correct it does look like that style. "Eton" is a new one for me Thanks for sharing:)
