This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
This is the name on the back. Mrs Aaserude. Mrs. Aaserude might be in the photo or the photo may have been meant for her.
I will guess that this photo was taken around 1920.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
Quite a jovial crowd.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the family name was altered to Hassarud by some.
ReplyDeleteI did find an entry for Anton Hartvig Aaserude (1879 - 1965) and his wife, Anna M Aaserude (1883 - 1953) who moved from Moorhead City, MN to Mekinock, Grand Forks, North Dakota. They had a large family - at least five boys (Vernon, Lawrence, Jerome, Melvin, and Edgar) and 2 girls (Ruth E. and Florence G.) in the 1930 US Census. If this is the right "family constellation," perhaps some of the ladies are the wives of the sons or Anton's brothers? Anton was the son of Oluf and Hanna. The last name is so mangled up in the censuses, I can't determine if he had brothers.
Funny how the fellas are bookended by girls wearing similar hats, each tilted in opposite directions. Plus they each look like they'd rather be anywhere but there.
