This is a photo from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
There are six young men in the photo…one is hard to see…just his head is showing.
Skip Craig
Jack Kolher
Ray Ellingson
Lee Sanders
Tom Carline
Wally Walbaum

Possibly a school photo.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again.
Oh, at first, photos with a nice long list of names seem like they will handily produce identities...but I've found it is not always so...
ReplyDeleteDo you think Kremlin refers to the town where those men were located? Is there a Kremlin in Minnesota?
This is a fun snapshot that shows the wear of attachment to the moment and those in the image.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great group!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a good holiday weekend.
Our home sold yesterday and we are so thrilled. The nightmare is over!
There is a KREMLIN in MONTANA in HILL COUNTY. The city of Havre has the county seat.
ReplyDeleteApparently also people from Minnesota once have settled there. Here is an article in the Havre Daily News, where a woman, Judi Gomke, of Kremlin talks about that:

On ancestry one can search the Havre Daily News, but I am not a subsciber there.

And here is the history homepage of Kremlin, Montana:

I also found the website of the Havre Hill Library with a section on genealogy, which I have not explored yet.

Maybe this helps.
I found a William Wilburn in Havre, Montana (which is near Kremlin Montana).
ReplyDeleteI found a Ray Ellingson in Douglas, Wisconsin (which is near Kremlin, Wisconsin).
Hmmm... this one needs a bit of time - which I don't have at the moment.
Skip Craig was born in November 1931 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, USA as George B. Craig. He is known for his work on DuckTales (1987), Adventures of the Gummi Bears (1985) and A Goofy Movie (1995).
ReplyDeleteAbel Raymond Ellingson was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota 1940.
I'm pretty sure "Willie" is actually "Wallace Walbaum" also born 1931, living in Becker County in 1940.
It appears that they are "printing" cards of some sort with the hand roller thingy.
http://www.dlathleticfoundation.org/walbaum10news.htm has a photo of Wally - I am sure he is the guy on the right.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wayzata-xc.org/MSHSL%20Regionals/1949%20Region%206.pdf shows Ray Ellingson was a team mate.
Iggy found an email through the Athletic Foundation in Detroit Lakes for Wally. I have emailed him.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, Iggy!
