Photo Number 897

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Duluth Minnesota.

Cabinet Card Wedding holding hands but looking opposite directions Duluth

They are holding hands..but looking opposite directions.  Again we have flowers over the chest area of the dress and she wears flowers in her hair.  She is wearing fingerless white gloves and her dress seems to have fuller sleeves and has lots dark trim including a bow at the waist.

A. Forsander was a photographer in Negaunee Michigan from 1900 to 1910…I wonder if he was there during the 1890’s also.  Because I would like to date this dress to the early 1890’s.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do come again:)

  1. It always amazes me how so many women in the vintage photos you see had such tiny waists! Did they eat back then?

    1. Hi Teresa, They didn't have access to fresh fruits and vegetables like we do today. In my opinion they were malnourished:(

  2. I read recently that people 1000 years ago were more healthy than people in the 19th century! Fashionable people could obtain sweets and it was not fashionable to eat fruits raw or vegetables unadorned of sauces. They could get many of the same foods we have today but they prepared them in ways that stripped them of their nutrients! This dress could go late 1890s or all the way to the 1910s. It's a tricky one because it's actually rather plain. The cabinet card wasn't used much after 1901 I believe.

    I can't believe I'm over a week behind!!!
