Ah we are getting closer to Christmas..and these snowy old photos are working their magic.
This horse might have pulled a sleigh in the winter. It is marked on the back. Wm. and his driving horse.
Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)
Over the river and through the woods
To Grandmother's house we go.
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
Through white and drifted snow.
Over the river and through the woods,
Oh, how the wind does blow.
It stings the toes and bites the nose
As over the ground we go.
Over the river and through the woods
To have a full day of play.
Oh, hear the bells ringing ting-a-ling-ling,
For it is Christmas Day.
Over the river and through the woods,
Trot fast my dapple gray
Terrific picture (and poem/song)! When I was a librarian, I used to read a picture book to my students based on this song just before Christmas break.
ReplyDeleteFarmers loved their livestock especially their horses. My father in law had horses way longer than the horse pulling the plow era.
ReplyDeleteWilliam looks pretty pleased too!
