Hmmm...this one might be a bigger challenge than I'm equipped to handle. The only Carroll Conkwright I could find was a man who was born in Oklahoma in 1912. At least that is within your date range. He was apparently raised by his grandparents.
I also found a California death record for a Carroll W. Conkwright who died in northern California on 18 September 1977. However, I couldn't find an obituary for him, nor any entry on Find A Grave--although there were several Conkwrights listed in Find A Grave for southern California cemeteries.
Who knows if that is the same man. It does seem a little out of the usual parameters for the photos you usually find in Minnesota antique shops...
Yeah, I saw that one in a census record. We're looking at the same person. I just don't have any way to access any obit for him, and all the usual places seem to draw a blank. Hopefully, someone in his family will Google his name at some point and find this photo :)
I think you probably have the right person, Jacqi. It appears his grandparents were Linzie & Anna Hughes. They apparently had two daughters, Pearl and Mabel Estella. Mabel Estella married Clarence Ballard & had a son Kenneth, so perhaps we can rule her out as the mother of Carrol & make an assumption that Pearl Hughes was the mother of Carrol. Pearl was born about 1879 in Illinois. Her sister was born 7 years later in Ashton, Iowa. Later we find their parents, with young grandchild Carroll in Oklahoma. After that, I just have dead ends, as well.

I think Jacqi has the "right person" but I'm without much proof.
ReplyDeleteThis Carroll (Warren?) married a Jauanita and they had two sons, James W and Robert.
