Photo Number 1756

This is a CdV from the Third Antique Shop in Dorset Minnesota.

Lady with huge collar Dorset Antiques 3

John Phillips was in Lake City Minnesota from 1878 to 1879 according to the Minnesota Historical Society Photographer listings. A son took over for him…and then John moved on to Red Wing.  There are several Photographers with the last name Phillips.

The lady wears a dress with a bustle…it might be what they call a Natural Form Bustle which is a straight skirt that hugs the legs.  Natural Form Bustles were in fashion from 1877 to 1882.

The high collar and long sleeves with pleats and trims and the bodice with pleats and buttons and a bow at the waist are all very interesting.

Thanks for stopping by.
