This is a photograph from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

FW Gertson of Lidgerwood ND was the photographer.

These ladies look like they are ready to travel.

 

I think it says : To Mrs Hillestad or Hillestod

I wonder if perhaps she was a favorite teacher..or maybe a cousin who got married and they are using her formal name.

I think the photograph was taken sometime right around 1900..give or take a few years.

This is a photo from  the Tin Ceiling in Park Rapids Minnesota.

They are both wearing Newsboy caps..six sectioned crowns with a small brim made in tweeds and wools and popular 1890 to 1910.  The heavy cardstock that the photo is mounted on leads me to believe that this was 1910 or thereabout. His hat is a little bit different style..or else he has it on backwards. At least I think it is a him and a her…relationship unknown.

We have two names..almost autographs.

??  and Marna?? Berna?

This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

She wrote on the back of the photo.

at the side of Bishopthorpe in front of a hedge.  How do you like my hat?  Notice I’m wearing that rust knit-?  I finally squeezed myself into it.

Too bad she didn’t tell us what her name was.   I think Bishopthorpe is in the UK.  So she could have been visiting or studying abroad.

I will guess this is from the early 1930’s.  The skirt seems a bit long but if she were a foreign gal..1933 might be about right.

Full Circle 66

This was a by happenstance Full Circle.  I was sitting next to a gal at the scrapbooking retreat back in December and she knew Wanda’s relatives.

They contacted me, I mailed off the photo. I asked about several other photos from the same photographer. (They did not recognize anyone.)

So many people had their pictures taken there, my last picture was when I was about 5 and Mr. Anderson died about that time. His wife was a wonderful lady with a heart of gold. She lived in the back of their building until she could no longer be alone. The building sat for several years and before it was taken down, people took boxes full of old pictures.
I want to thank you for the picture and I will be sending you money for postage, so you can send other people their pictures.

This cat or dog seems to have moved suddenly.  I think it might be a cat chasing a string. If I had to guess what the license plate said..ND and in 1942..with a number 5-338

A Border Collie looking for a treat. 

As most of you probably know we have a Border Collie named Chance who is a very spoiled member of our family. He is also one of the smartest dogs I have ever encountered.  Chance knows many words, even if we spell them he seems to understand..sometimes I think he is smarter than his owners.
