I think this is Charles Beed Clark (Jun 1865 - 1930) He was the son of Ellis and Mary Clark of Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1888, he married Myrtie L. (1862 - 1944) and they had (at least) two sons, Edwin Meredith Clark (25 Apr 1899 - Mar 1984) a music teacher in Seattle, Washington and Paul Victor Clark (19 Apr 1897 - 10 Feb 1978) who was also a teacher.

Charles graduated from Battle Creek College and was a college professor of "Bacteriology" at the University of Michigan.
Earlier we had Photo Number 1339 of Will Clark although I am not certain of a connection in Butte MT.

This is the back of the CdVs.  Leicester is in England.  The CdVs have been trimmed down to fit a frame.  They look enough alike to be brothers.  They are wearing almost new looking suits.  I will guess that theses photos were taken in the 1870’s.

This CdV is from Craig’s Collection.  A CdV or cartes-de-visitie usually measures 2 1/2 inches by 4 inches, although some are a tad shorter at 3 3/4 inches.  None of these CDV’s have tax stamps.  Tax Stamps helped to fund the Civil War and the stamps appeared from August 1864 and August 1866. So all of these will date to sometime after 1866.

The cardstock on this CDV is very thin, the corners are square and you can see the woman’s ears, I think this may be from the late 1860’s.

Oscar was born in Bergen Norway in 1857, he died in Portland Oregon in 1920.  He worked for the railroad.  In 1892 he married Christina Bodum (1867 to 1912).

Oscars parents were Johannes and Lydia, his brothers were Fredrik,Sven, Johan,Lauritz and a sister Emma Margaretha.

I wonder if he married Christina in Jan of 1892, then this is a wedding photo.

This is a Cabinet Card from Craig’s Collection.

Simpson was the photographer at 223 Market Street Paterson, N.J.  I found that he was there in 1889 to 1890.

If you look closely at this photo it has a indented or raised up area that frames the subject.  It shows up better on the reverse side.  They must have had some kind of a press that the photo and card were put into.

This is a Cabinet Card from Craig’s Collection.

Willie Alec Porter

This cabinet card has a pink back, pale colors were used form 1873 to 1910.  Some have one color on the front of the card and another on the back of the card.   This one may have had a pink front and it may be faded.

My first impression of this photo is that it was taken about 1880 and the young man was about 15 years old.

William Porter born December 2, 1867 was a clerk and banker before entering into Real Estate and Livestock.  He married Kathryn Stephens August 15 1892 and they had a daughter named Dorothy Nell. 

His only child, a daughter named Dorothy Miller nee Porter, married Leffler Beguette Miller, they had two daughters, Margery Dorette Brown nee Miller (14 Apr 1922 - 6 Sep 1992) and Marinell Coleman nee Miller (15 Sep 1926 - ?) married Clifford Coleman, lived in Millbrae, CA.

Update:  This photo went Full Circle 122 on July 6, 2015
