This is a photo from the Antique Shop in Solway.  It is a CdV.

Another pioneer family, this time with a baby. I wonder what is tied around the gals waist..a hat or some type of purse?

The photographer is Leo. Anschuetz of Boscobel, Wisconsin.  I found that he was a photographer there in 1870.  So that is the year we will pick for this CdV also.

This dress is an example of the more common classes clothing - solid in the middle class. Not fancy but with some of the features of the upper classes.

This is one weird photo.  I purchased it in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.  It is a CdV.

I could not figure out the purpose of this photo..so I would appreciate your opinion.  I will guess that this was taken sometime around 1870 to 1880.  Is it a photograph in front of another photograph?  What is up with the white hankie?

Photo Number 531

This is a very old CdV from the Antique Shop in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.  I think of it as one of those pioneer family photos…one where they just stepped off the wagon and went to have their photo taken.
 

Sadly the photo is not marked.  However I found this info about the photographer and his work.  During 1868 to 1870 Cartes-de –visites are printed on the verso with the statement   “From W. L. Barnes Photograph and Gem Gallery Union Block, Winona.”

So this is probably one of the oldest photos I have. It is 141 to 143years old.

On the verso..how many of you have heard that term before? I had not.  The back of something is called the verso, the front of something the recto..I learn something new everyday!

This is the last of the Nurse’s photographs..I will have to collect some more.  This one is from the second Dorset Antique Store.

This photo came complete with a frame.  The Nurse has many pin curls, and the old white stockings with anklets in white nurses shoes..she may be from the 1940’s.

This is the same gal, by herself in a different setting..perhaps someone will recognize her or the background in the photo. I think that these snapshots are most likely from the late 1920’s.

Olson Brothers were in Willmar, Minnesota during the 1910’s and the 1920’s.  I will date this photo to the late 1920’s.

This the first thing I've found. We know that Helen's father is no longer in the picture by 1920, as mother is married to Jacob Weldon. We also see household member Agnes Myers, listed as sister-in-law to head of household (Jacob), so we can deduce this is Catherine Weldon's sister (parents born in same country). Here are is the information on Helen. I will find more, I am sure.
