Photo Number 1925

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

O.E. Flaten used the Halstad address in 1894 and 1895 so that is the date we will pick for this photo.

I bought this photo for three reasons.  Can you guess why?

The handsome groom wears a three piece suit and a white bow tie along with a watch fob and a flower in his lapel.  The bride wears a not light not dark colored gown.  The gown has ruffles and trims on the bodice, the sleeves are huge also with ruffles.  The bride wears a full length bridal bonnet trimmed with flowers, she carries a bouquet and I believe there are flowers around her neck too.

Now did you guess? 

1.  I collect Wedding Photographs!

2. The groom is blonde.

3. The crochet work that adorns the small table where the groom is resting his arm.

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Alexandria Minnesota.

H.W. Lawrence of Mantorville, Minn was the photographer.

The Minnesota Historical Society has no mention of this photographer. I emailed them a copy of the photo so they can update their information.

I will guess that this photo was taken about 1895.

The groom wears a three piece suit, he has a fob for a watch and a flower in his lapel.  He may be holding her hand behind her back?  The bride shows her ring.  She wears a gown not light colored or dark colored.  The gown has huge sleeves popular in 1895, the bodice has several trims, bows and flowers, at her waist is something white perhaps a bow.  She wears a full length bridal bonnet trimmed in flowers.

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

The couple is sitting on some kind of bench.  The groom wears a three piece suit with a flower on his lapel.  His hair is slicked back and he sports a moustache.  The brides gown has very poufy sleeves that are trimmed in lace.  She wears a bridal bonnet that is adorned with flowers.  It appears that her hand is gently resting on his sleeve.
Hans Hansen was the photographer at 508 Front Street from 1895 to 1898.  Luckily I can check with the NDSU photographers from Fargo list.

Photo Number 1922

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Parkers Prairie Minnesota.

Lindquist was the photographer in New Paynesville, Minn

The Minnesota Historical Society shows A.L. Lindquist working as a photographer in 1894-1900 and then again in 1904.  Photographers often took time away from photography to work at other jobs.

The groom is wearing a cut away coat and flowers,  the bride is wearing a gown of some color, with a huge white bow and a wedding bonnet adorned with some white flowers.  She carries a sprig of flowers in her fingerless gloved hand.  The gown has very large upper sleeves popular around 1895.

This is a cabinet card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

Nick Jahn was the photographer in Perham Minnesota.  He was in business there in 1902 so that is the date we will give this photo.

The gentleman wears a three piece suit and wears a flower, the woman wears a dark colored gown.  Her bridal bonnet is full length adorned with flowers and she also has flowers at the neck of her gown.

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Wahpeton North Dakota.

The gentleman wears a longer coat probably called a frock coat. The woman wears a light colored gown with dark ribbon trim and holds a small bouquet of flowers.
Thiel's Art Gallery was in business in the 1880's in Duluth Minnesota.

Photo Number 1919

June is here and I will present a month of wedding photos.  They are a favorite of mine to collect.  A few will have names most will not.
This is a CdV from the antique shop in Grand Forks North Dakota.

The man wears his top button closed and flowers.  The woman wears flowers in her hair and on the nape of her neck.  Her skirt has pleated edges and it looks like the skirt has a bustle in the back.
I will date this photo to 1885-1887.

The photographer was Ole E. Flaten in Moorhead Minnesota.  He was a photographer there from 1885 to 1928.
