Sometimes I buy photos for the content and sometimes for the mystery.

This photo was purchased at Buggy Wheel Antiques near Lake Park Minnesota.

The photographer was M.H. Sand of somethingville ND.  It turned out to be Buttzville ND.

Buttzville had 100 residents in 1920. In 1960 it had 15 residents. It seems to be almost a ghost town with only a few residents remaining today.

Although this photo is badly faded I think you get the idea..a womans work was never done.

This is a Real Photo Postcard from the Antique Shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

Mrs. Ellen Barton and daugh Ruth  Durand Wis

The postcard is an AZO with diamonds in the corners of the stamp box which indicates the years 1907 to 1909.

Helene, Larry Joe at Xmas Lake 1949.

Perhaps this is the Christmas Lake that is near Shoreview Minnesota or is it in Oregon or Indiana?

This is a Cabinet Card from the Antique Shop in Erhard Minnesota.

Aunt Inger Lee

Sylvester Peter Wange was the photographer in Hawley Minnesota.  I couldn’t find out what years he was in business.

This may be a photo from around 1895.  I guess that date because of the shoulder wings on the woman’s dress.

 There is a Inger Lee (born 1866 in Norway) with 2 young daughters in Hawley village, Clay, Minnesota 1900.

From Iggy:

Inger Lee indeed has two daughters, Clara (b. Oct 1895) and Emma (b. Nov 1898) in the 1900 US Census, but also in the household are nephew Oscar Flater (b. Sep 1881) and niece Nellie Flater (b. Nov 1882).

In the 1930 US census, Clara (34 yo) and Emma (31 yo) are still single, living together and living in Los Angeles, California and both of them are working as Registered Nurses at a hospital.

Clara N Lee (b. Birth: 31 Oct 1895 in Minnesota, d. 7 Jul 1991 in Los Angeles)

Emma C Lee (b. 22 Nov 1898 in Minnesota, d. 22 May 1995 in Los Angeles) married Olav/Olaf/Olof Langeli, a carpenter sometime before 1937. Her death record says her mother's maiden name was Wold.

Update from Anonymous:

Inger Wold  Born 17 August 1866 to Erik Wold and Nicoline Nilsdatter Neraason.  She married Charley K Lee and had two children Clara and Emma.  Inger died in 1913.

 From  a relative: Charles Langeli, my second cousin, died in 1976.

Grandma seems to be resting.  She has pin curls in her hair so perhaps she has a big date.  I will guess that this photo was taken sometime in the 1940’s or early 1950’s.

Possibly this is a Grandmother or a favorite Aunt with two small children.  She looks like she just stepped out of the kitchen with her apron on to sit a spell and have her photo taken.
