This is a photo from the antique shop in Fergus Falls Minnesota.

Looks like a sod house or a “soddy” to me.  The walls look thick.  Prairie Grass had deep roots and when laid in strips root side up made a house.  Often times the houses were covered on the outside with ash or clay for a stucco exterior.

Myrtle Rose Anderson 1878-1968 married John William Andes 1870-1952
They had ten children. 
Those in the photo are most likely the oldest three.

Florence Engen Aldrich June 10 1887 -Jan 14 1986. She was a school teacher who began teaching in rural schools in 1904,she married Fred Aldrich in 1918 and they lived at Nashua Minnesota. She was a 4-H Club Leader, a music teacher and News Correspondent. She and her husband had three children; Kathryn, Dorothy and Fred.

Grandma and Grandpa Michael Wurtz

I was glad both photos were marked.  I have no idea where these photos were taken. I know they are not in the best of shape but for their age thery are doing pretty good, some photographers work fared better than others.  I think these photos were taken 1895 to 1900.
