Being a tall person, I'd certainly tower even more over everyone in such a chapeau!Sara at Come Away With Mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07677354270954094291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-73906288467786801982010-03-02T08:06:59.608-06:002010-03-02T08:06:59.608-06:00I believe the "scarf" on the far left is...I believe the "scarf" on the far left is crocheted. Just like today, the more disposable income a person has, the more elaborate their accessories can be. Middle class women would not find it practical to wear the enormous and stylized hats - picture the Ascot opening day in My Fair Lady - but they would try to mock their betters. The bigger the hat, the more likely the woman wearing it did not have to ride a crowded train to work or sit in a closed motorcar. Interestingly, in France, laws were passed about the maximum length of hatpins allowed because of rogue hatpin injuries on public transportation.Norkiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14017387181655123770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-8112318774094545142010-03-01T19:53:44.289-06:002010-03-01T19:53:44.289-06:00I look forward to hat week. I used to have a scan of my great aunt in a very elaborate hat; it was lost when my computer crashed. I only have a photocopy that doesn't do it justice, but if I ever get another color copy from the history museum, I'll send it on. I wonder if Norkio knows if the size and styles of hats had anything to do with status. ~AbraAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-13820727998127485282010-03-01T19:22:49.439-06:002010-03-01T19:22:49.439-06:00Norkio, PMO is the company that supplied the paper...Norkio, PMO is the company that supplied the paper to make the postcard..if you look in the square where the stamp goes it says PMO ..I found this site that tells all about the types of postcards made and like with AZO ones ( very popular up here) the different symbols in the corner give you hints about the year! Not 100 percent accurate..but in the ball park. <br />http://www.the2buds.com/rp.htmFar Side of Fiftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995757632158408442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-84694863742872397682010-03-01T18:26:59.624-06:002010-03-01T18:26:59.624-06:00Can you imagine walking around in one of those &qu...Can you imagine walking around in one of those "lamp shades"?????
