Edwin Ronningen was the brother of Emil's wife Marie like you mentioned and also the brother of Anna, my grandmother married to Anton Amundson. So Ernest, Art & Joel were double first cousins to my mother. The farm was originally settled by Amund Smikop Amundson and his wife Ronnaug. One of their daughters Ronnog (Rena) married Augustine Washington Wood and thus the farm became known as the Wood farm when they moved back to Rothsay and lived on the farm. Their son continued to live there and later it was owned by Ernest Amundson and then following his death by Joel Amundson. The farm is in Wilkin County near Rothsay, Minnesota. The house and the round barn are no longer on the property which is still in the family and now is owned by my cousin's son who has built a house there. As Iggy found out, there must be lots of guys around MN with that same name. Besides, this one's location was too far north: our contact worked closer to the southeast part of the state. Funny how some names are common in some areas but rare occurrences in others.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-71281339021512706232012-08-12T16:18:24.551-05:002012-08-12T16:18:24.551-05:00Since I don't Minnesota, perhaps someone else ...Since I don't Minnesota, perhaps someone else might be able to determine the location of the round barn.
http://www.dalejtravis.com/maps/numbers/mn.htmMAYBELLINEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09459481721591224275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-25028211487129747122012-08-12T16:14:01.602-05:002012-08-12T16:14:01.602-05:00Sure would love to see a photo of that round barn ...Sure would love to see a photo of that round barn today.MAYBELLINEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09459481721591224275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-75888188166487766882012-08-12T12:58:31.818-05:002012-08-12T12:58:31.818-05:00Too bad the round barn isn't in the photo.Too bad the round barn isn't in the photo.Jeannellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10506888396193293867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-22610335273567244772012-08-12T11:14:53.474-05:002012-08-12T11:14:53.474-05:00Intense Guy , thanks for all the info on the photo...Intense Guy , thanks for all the info on the photo's. This is the "right one".
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=52520514 shows Art M. Amundson (b. 1917 d. 1999) was also a brother of Ernest and Joel.

The prize is this one: Edwin Ronningen (1897 - 1958) who was Emil's wife Inga's brother.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=7453574

So the photo, taken by Art (presumably) shows two of his brothers (Ernest and Joel), and two of his uncles (Anton and Edwin).Intense Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08441598926026727682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-46128381972576669992012-08-12T08:58:25.757-05:002012-08-12T08:58:25.757-05:00"Wood Farm" is the name of the property ..."Wood Farm" is the name of the property and it appears to still exist.

I assume Art took the photo - His obituary begins "Arthur “Art” M. Amundson, age 95 of Faribault, passed away in peace surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the District One Hospital in Faribault." "He was stationed in Germany and served as a medic helping at Normandy Beach and the Battle of the Bulge." It goes on to say he was "a painter, plasterer and acoustical carpenter for Artcraft, Inc. well into the 1970’s."

Art and his wife Lorraine had 6 children (4 daughters) with two sons, Harold and Tom. So the gents in the photo are not his sons.

Anton A(mundson) (b. 1888 d 1968) was the Manager of the Rothsay Woodwork. His findagrave memorial has a photo of him on it and I think he aged well. :)
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=7396932

Anton's father was the owner of Wood Farm.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=7396987 has an extensive obituary and story.Intense Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08441598926026727682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-2112343291315988382012-08-12T06:18:09.616-05:002012-08-12T06:18:09.616-05:00Great photo, Connie.Great photo, Connie.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
