Or it may have been a diminutive of one of the variations of Arlen: Arlan, Arlin, Arlon, Arlun and Arlyn. Public records contain many examples of all those variations. One of my male first-cousins was married in a double-breasted suit in 1937 but this photograph does seem to have more of a circa-1950 "feel." If we could see the length of the man's tie that would help date the picture but we cannot so that's that. But the curtain fabric appears to be a 1940's pattern that was popular into the early-'50s. Hopefully we'll learn the full identities of Lois and Arlie [Mr. and Mrs. Arlie -------]. “Arlie” is not as uncommon of a name as one might first think but there shouldn't have been too many “Lois and Arlie couples.” Although I thought “Millylou” back in #1084 would be easy to find, too, but no luck there. :-(Charlottanoreply@blogger.com
