Some of the information on CDVs I've read suggests that early CDVs consist of hand cut cards, however, that pretty much stopped with the advent of premade cards. Could the corners be rounded from wear? That is one trick to dating CDVs. If they are definitely cut rounded, then it's 1870 or later. Not all photographers put their marks on the CDVs, and the more fancy, the later the card. But, CDVs were popular through the end of the century, so a 1901 CDV isn't out of the question. How's that for muddying the waters? ;-)

NorkioAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-40236371427955323212010-10-15T11:19:12.188-05:002010-10-15T11:19:12.188-05:00These CdV's are 2 1/4 to 2/1/2inches by 4 inch...These CdV's are 2 1/4 to 2/1/2inches by 4 inches:)Far Side of Fiftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995757632158408442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-88524314628605100992010-10-15T09:03:14.182-05:002010-10-15T09:03:14.182-05:00P.s., the excerpt on Mr. Barnes comes from "O...P.s., the excerpt on Mr. Barnes comes from "Omaha: the Gate city, and Douglas County, Nebraska"(1917) Author: Wakeley, Arthur Cooper, 1855-edition.Intense Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08441598926026727682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320880361203053560.post-8632207961180878002010-10-15T07:30:59.835-05:002010-10-15T07:30:59.835-05:00This picture (and much more so, photos #337 and #3...This picture (and much more so, photos #337 and #340) appear to be badly cut out of the print paper. I wonder why. Were they printed "together" or just cut badly? :)

How large are these pictures?Intense Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08441598926026727682noreply@blogger.com
